The sentry box

The most famous of all Reislers products is without doubt the sentry box. It was introduced to the toy shops in July 1956. The sentry box had already been seen on the cover of the catalogue from Oct. 1955.

Combined with the guard with rifle at foot it has since become a symbol of the company. Today the set can be found all over the world as it was a major hit and sold well both as a toy and as a souvenir. Some sets included several guards.

The guard uniform

The sentry box was commonly produced either with a guard in the dark blue guard uniform or with one wearing the red gala uniform glued to the base inside.

The combination with the red uniform is by far the most common though the guards on duty normally are wearing the dark blue uniform. Perhaps the red gala uniform made a more impressive souvenir.

The sentry box also came solo
and in combination with a Tivoli-guard too.

The Royal monogram

In 1972 H.M. Queen Margrethe II succeeded her father King Frederik IX and naturally the monogram on Reisler's sentry box was changed accordingly.

Later again the peak on top of the sentry box switched colour from golden to white.

The new transfers were produced by the same manufacturer as in 1956.
